Hot off the Press: Bill Cunningham

Here's a great video by Bill Cunningham that was suggested to me the other day. If you don't know who Bill Cunningham is, let me inform you...... he is most well known for his fashion centric street photographs for The New York Times. He is a community staple to those of New York, you can see him either outside Saks or riding around on his signature bicycle. To get Bill's whole story watch the documentary on him!
This short is about fashion and art and how they can be combined, and Bill's whole take on the phenomena, and the people who are a part of it. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get the embedded code so just click on the link and watch the video titled Styling on the Street!

Fashion: Jason Wu for Target

I have been a fan of Jason Wu for awhile now, never been able to afford him though. I won't have to wait long however, because he is about to launch a whole new line at Target, all items ranging from 19.99-49.99. I'm so excited, there are a lot of great pieces to choose from!

New Issue of Covet Garden!

A new issue of Covet Garden came out this week! Like John and Arounna, my family owns a store so it was really nice seeing how they integrate their job into their home life. I'm also a BIG fan of DIY's so there were a ton of cool ideas to get me thinking about what I could make for my home! Also here's a link to their Etsy store where they sell bags, tea towels, and more!

Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli Festival at IFC!

Being a child that grew up on Hayao Miyazaki films I can't tell you how happy I was when I saw the front page of the NYTimes Arts section covered in a still from Totoro (my first Miyazaki film, created in 1988). It turns out that starting now until January 5th IFC theaters all over NYC will be showing Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli (Miyazaki's Studio) films, there are a few that I haven't seen yet and will be sure to catch in theaters. This is a real treat to anyone who appreciates what Miyazaki has created in these truly beautiful and magical stories, I really recommend anyone with children to take some time over the holiday to bring them to one of these films (all trailers area available on youtube). Click here for times, dates and locations!

Fashion: Acne now offering free shipping for the holls!

When I woke up on Tuesday morning it was as if Christmas had come early! Looking at my facebook updates I came across an Acne update stating that there would be free shipping for the holidays, I know this is starting to become a standard with most stores, but I don't care I'm still gonna celebrate like it's 1999! Here are some pics from their latest FB post!

Blogs to Follow: Vogue Daily

One of my favorite fashion and society blogs lately is Vogue Daily, which covers fashion, celebrities, home decor, lifestyle along with exclusives from the magazine! Every week I catch up with what has been going on in the "high society" of the celeb world, and the best part is everyone is always dressed to the nines. Check it out here!

Movie News: Elvis & Nixon

If there was ever a character combination I wouldn't have guessed it would be this one, Elvis & Nixon. But that is indeed the newest film on the horizon for Universal. While the two American figures do have an interesting story, I am interested to see how it will play out on the big screen. It has just been announced that Eric Bana has signed on for the roll of the King, while there are currently negotiations for Danny Huston to play the roll of President Nixon. For more information on the relationship between the real Elvis and Nixon click here!
