Blogs to Follow: Guest of a Guest

This a great blog that I was recently introduced to by one of my Seventeen buds, if you don't have any plans for the evening just go over to the social calendar of GofaG and see whats happening that night. It was a great way to navigate NYFashion Week and has alerted me to some really cool parties that I wouldn't have heard about otherwise!

Good Nosh: Beecher's Homemade Cheese

Everyday I'd pass this cheese shop wondering what it was like inside, last week I finally had a few spare minutes and decided to check it out. I was surprised to see that Beecher's Handemade Cheese was more than a cheese shop, and was a really lovely cafe/restaurant, which during the night turns into "The Cellar", a basement bar scene for people 21 and over. Originating in Seattle, Kurt Beecher Dammeier branched out to NYC in 2008 where he opened the Flat Iron location. The title doesn't lie when it says "Handmade Cheese", and they are able to prove it! Half of the bottom floor is taken up by their cheese making kitchen, where customers can sit on stainless steel milk cans while watching the product go through the age old process. With an ever changing menu, Beecher's offers an array of different items, such as panini's, pastas, soups and especially tasty coffee!

Below are the essentials for any NY Picnic! Tell me what are your picnic plans, what food do you always bring and what hot lady jams do you play?

Where It's AT: Bash & Bow

In the current cyber world we live in, it's becoming harder and harder to find independent card shops, it's become even harder to find affordable one's. Bash & Bow just happens to be both. Not only do they have an impeccable selection of greeting cards, but they also have a unique selection of jewelry, home accessories and other items that have already been the answer to many of my gifting dilemmas! Located on East 21st street between 2nd and 3rd Ave, it is a welcomed relief from the deli's and gourmet food markets, Bash & Bow has been a great addition to the area! The necklace you see below is my latest purchase from the place, inspired by the House of Harlow necklace, this lovely gem is a fraction of the price and is buyer's remorse free!

Where ITS At: The Howard Greenberg Gallery

We all heard about her last year as her story made it's way through the photography blogs, her name was Vivian Maier, a nanny all her life, and a closet street photographer. It was not until after her death in 2009 that her photographs were discovered and released into the art community. They are now being shown at The Howard Greenberg Gallery until January 28th. I highly recommend that you go, it's not to be missed!

Good Nosh: Robert

I had a meeting at this restaurant last week, I was told that it was a cafe and was surprised when the elevator opened out onto this posh eatery instead. Here are some pictures of the place below, be sure to go on a nice day, the view of Central Park is really spectacular! Not only is the food good but the waitstaff were so nice, letting us take our time even though we were there for hours and didn't order too much. Click here for more information about Robert.

Birthday Bash Part Deux

This past Friday I spent the night dancin' and groovin' over at Gatsby's. It was a really great time and the music was all over the place, playing 60's all the way to the present music. Each song was a great surprise. The food was pretty decent too! Hopefully we'll be back there this weekend!

New Issue of Covet Garden!

A new issue of Covet Garden came out this week! Like John and Arounna, my family owns a store so it was really nice seeing how they integrate their job into their home life. I'm also a BIG fan of DIY's so there were a ton of cool ideas to get me thinking about what I could make for my home! Also here's a link to their Etsy store where they sell bags, tea towels, and more!

Birthday Bash

Hello all,
Sorry I've been off the airwaves?....microwaves? Anyways not only did I have a fabulous Christmas, Boxing Day and New Years Eve, I also celebrated my birthday over the holiday! Can't wait to get back to NYC and kick off the new year with a party at Gatsby's in SoHo. It's sure to be a blast!
Another great perk to the post holiday season is the amazing deals. I am usually quite picky when it comes to winter coats. But after the frigid cold day that we had yesterday, I finally broke down and went to Lord & Taylor's. All the women's cots seemed terribly drab, it was then that my sister had the brilliant idea of checking the mens section, where I found this gem of a coat! On sale originally $356, and I got it for $140! Bargain! I was able to find it in navy with red detail on the shoulders which makes it even more perfect! What amazing deals have you guys come across this season?

Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli Festival at IFC!

Being a child that grew up on Hayao Miyazaki films I can't tell you how happy I was when I saw the front page of the NYTimes Arts section covered in a still from Totoro (my first Miyazaki film, created in 1988). It turns out that starting now until January 5th IFC theaters all over NYC will be showing Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli (Miyazaki's Studio) films, there are a few that I haven't seen yet and will be sure to catch in theaters. This is a real treat to anyone who appreciates what Miyazaki has created in these truly beautiful and magical stories, I really recommend anyone with children to take some time over the holiday to bring them to one of these films (all trailers area available on youtube). Click here for times, dates and locations!

Where it's AT: Gaga's Workshop, Barney's NY

I am so excited that Gaga's Workshop at Barney's is finally here! I found out about it a few weeks ago, and have been looking forward to it ever since! The best part about it is that 25% of proceeds go to Gaga's new foundation, the Born This Way Foundation, which is dedicated to youth empowerment. So go out today and support the youths by buying some stylish swag! Here are some pics (courtesy of Vogue) of the launch party on the 21st along with some pieces from the collection!

The lovely Lady herself

I'll have to purchase something just to get one of those bags!

I hope that entrance stays up the whole season, this kind of reminds me of a scene from Patch Adams.

Prabal Gurung at the opening, love his jacket, great mix of sweater and letterman jacket!

Pamela Love in a very gorge yellow floral dress!

Gaga solider cookies

Lady Gaga and Nicola Formichetti

Look at this lovely piece of rock candy!

I covet these nails soooo hardcore!
